Guys in my last post we have discussed about Youth empowerment.
Today we are going to discuss about Personal development in detail. Here you have to answer yourself two questions:
What are your values?
What do you love doing?
Did you ever think about which values are important to you and guiding principles in your life. Which values are less important to you?
It is very common to hear from career experts that you should define your values first, before deciding your career. This sounds pretty easy but you cannot define your values before knowing what they are. Different peoples have different values and these values often determine the things that they do and love. Values strongly had believes that you might not know you have.
Our Family
Our Friends
Our Community
Our Experience
These all contribute towards our values.
Who we are?
and
How we see the world?
We often tends to think that our believes are based on our reality. But it is actually that the believes are leading our experiences. The believes that we hold are important part of our Identity. They may be motivated by the Religion, Culture or Morals. Believes are precious because they reflect who we are and how we live our lives.
Lets get back to our values and discuss more about them. There are some values that you pick up from childhood and some come along the way. The values guide you through out your life weather you are aware of them or not. Values affect our decision making and influence our big life choices. Values affects your behavior and values affects your overall happiness.
How to test yourself and find out most important values and priorities in life?
If you have all your values listed on a paper it won't be easy to decide which is more valued than others.
Have you ever noticed which are the values you appreciated the most write them on a paper.
for example:
Equality
Diversity
Justice
Family Life
Tradition
Health
Security
and many more.....
You can end up with a long list of values. But it is fine. You don't need to consider all the values. Just concentrate on those values which best defines you.
Complete list is provided below you can select your top 10 from here.
To Identify your best values do a value development exercise. Follow the following steps.
You can also post the links for more references in comments.
